Spoke 2 - Making Them the Hero

Sharing Wins | Indisputable Delivery

The key contact sold this engagement internally. They went to bat for the budget, the timeline, and the belief that Zipcio was the right partner. Every win you surface during the engagement is not just progress - it is evidence that they made the right call. Your job is to make sure that evidence reaches the right people.

THE CORE PRINCIPLE

Do not wait for the Impact + Vision Session to tell the client what was accomplished. Wins shared at the end of an engagement land as a summary. Wins shared in the moment land as momentum. Momentum is what converts clients to retainers.

Every win you surface should connect back to the WIG you identified at kickoff. A feature delivered is not a win. A feature delivered that moves the client closer to their Wildly Important Goal - framed in those terms - is a win.

THE CHAMPION AND THE SKEPTIC

You identified these two people at kickoff using the Pit Stop Check. Here is how they shape your wins strategy.

For the Champion

Give them wins they can share upward without having to translate them. Use language their leadership understands - business outcomes, time saved, revenue implications, team adoption rates. When you share a win in a meeting, frame it in a way they could repeat word-for-word to their CEO or CFO and sound sharp.

Example: instead of "we have built the lifecycle workflow" say "your team now has an automated process that moves every new contact through the right stages without anyone having to do it manually - which is probably three to five hours a week back across your team."

For the Skeptic

Engineer at least one moment during the engagement that lands directly with them. This might be a summary email you copy them on, a metric you surface in a meeting they attend, or a deliverable that specifically addresses the thing they were uncertain about when the decision was made. You do not need to win them over in real time - you need to give the champion the ammunition to do it.

WHEN AND HOW TO SHARE WINS

In every sync

  • Open with one specific win from the past two weeks before moving to current work
  • Frame the win against the WIG - not the feature
  • Name what would have been required to achieve this without Zipcio's involvement - this is not arrogance, it is honest value framing

Async between meetings

  • When a deliverable goes live, send a short message naming what it does and why it matters - do not just mark it complete in a task tool
  • If the client shares positive feedback from their own team about something Zipcio built, acknowledge it and amplify it - "that is exactly what we were building toward"
  • If a metric moves in a positive direction - open rates, pipeline volume, deal velocity - name it proactively, do not wait for them to notice

At training and enablement sessions

  • Make the key contact the one who introduces Zipcio's work to their team - not you. Brief them beforehand so they can frame it confidently. They look like a leader. Their team sees them driving the initiative.
  • When the broader team asks questions, reference back to decisions the key contact made that shaped the build. Credit flows to them.

THE TWO NON-NEGOTIABLE CLOSEOUT DELIVERABLES

At the end of every engagement, regardless of whether the client is moving to a retainer, two things get delivered. These are not billable add-ons. They are the standard.

1. Prioritized Next Steps List

A clean, prioritized list of the highest-value things the client should tackle next in their HubSpot environment. Written from the perspective of their WIG and their business goals - not a feature wishlist. This positions Zipcio as a strategic partner who was thinking ahead, not a vendor who completed tickets.

  • Three to five items maximum - prioritized by business impact, not complexity
  • Each item includes one sentence on why it matters for their specific situation
  • Framed as the natural next chapter, not a sales pitch

2. HubSpot Health Summary

A brief summary of the state of the client's HubSpot portal at the close of the engagement. What was built, what is working well, what to watch, and what is still untapped. The client did not ask for this. That is the point. Receiving something they did not ask for - that is clearly useful and clearly reflects expertise - is one of the most powerful ways to create a client who talks about Zipcio without being asked.

  • One page maximum
  • Plain language - no HubSpot jargon
  • Sections: what was built, what to monitor, what comes next

WEEKLY CHECK-IN QUESTION

One question for your Pod Leader check-in each week:

MAKING THEM THE HERO

What specific win did I surface this week that connected back to this client's WIG?

Did it reach the champion? Did it reach the skeptic?
